Il sindacato e le cooperative

Capital-managed businesses mainly differ from cooperatives because the former strive to maximise the revenues of capital-owners, while the latter are concerned with maximising the overall well-being of all the partners. In so far as this is true, how are we to account for the fact that trade unions do not press for the establishment of worker management? A system in which worker-run firms are the rule would threaten the very existence of unions. But is this enough for explaining the lukewarm commitment of trade unions to the evolution of society in the direction of a system of worker-run business firms?
